Jason Poirier was involved in a two-car crash at the Colman Street and Broad Street intersection in New London on Saturday, Oct. 26, just before midnight, police said.

The New London man was one of four people rushed to hospitals, but Poirier succumbed to his injuries at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital on Monday, Oct. 28.

The crash remains under investigation.

Poirier's friends have filled social media with memories of good times they shared and how heartbreaking this loss is in their lives.

Sebastian Everett posted on Facebook that things were improving in his friend's life, and he was elated to see him happy again.

Jason Poirier you've been my best friend for coming on 11 years. You've been there for me through so much, andyou really were the best of us. You married me and Cassie, and you were the rock that kept me sane a lot of the times. Hell, I just saw you the other day, and you were the happiest I've seen you in years. You were finally in a good place for the first time in a long time.

Elizabeth Doyon wrote of countless nights lost playing "Magic The Gathering" at a friend's house for over a decade with Poirier.

"I can tell you that Jay was as real as they come," she said. "And that the world is spinning a bit slower today having lost him."

Poirier wrote on Facebook that he worked for Whelen Engineering Company, but a call seeking confirmation was not immediately returned.
